Beat the Heat
With these temperatures, all we can think about is COOL! Which makes us think of the ABFM in oh-so-many ways. For starters, the ABFM just IS cool. Most of Pearl Street (our home) is wonderfully shady. Listening to our weekly performers may transport you to a less-wilting clime. And cooling foods are in order — time for fruit salads; crisp green salads tossed with roasted vegetables; chilled gazpacho; refreshing fruit and/or berry smoothies; and cold grain-and-veggie-and-whatever salads. This is the season to load up on the fruits and veggies, which are delicious and incredibly healthful. Remember to buy fresh, local produce now and freeze (or can) for the winter months.
New Market Hours: 10am – 2pm

ACTION ALERT: LOCALLY MADE WINE AND BEER AT FARMERS MARKETS
The MA House of Representatives has passed an Economic Development bill that includes language permitting the sale of locally produced wine and beer at MA farmers markets. Please call your State Representative and State Senator to urge them to preserve the farm wineries language in the bill (currently in Conference Committee). If enacted, this bill would help local wineries and expand the options for MA farmers market–goers. For contact info on state Reps and Senators, visit http://www.wheredoivotema.com.
